What you are walking into
Loneshoal is a Rust-style survival server on a generated archipelago. You spawn on a coastline with empty hands. There is no starter kit and no tutorial, and the only thing standing between you and the next player is whatever you have built since the last wipe.
- Claim the groundLand is claimed with a tool cupboard — 48 blocks across, 64 up. Let its upkeep lapse and the protection drops with it.
- Walls that mean somethingEvery building material sits on a durability ladder from bare wood up to iron. Grind through with a tool, or spend raid charges and be quicker.
- Raid the radtownsAn Outlander fort, a Trork war-camp and a skeleton-haunted necropolis, each held by a garrison that will not let you loot it for free.
- Scarcity on purposeCopper and stone regrow slowly, so a good node is worth defending. Each island's climate pays out in different things entirely.
Loneshoal is in early playtest. The population is small and things break in public. If that sounds like a problem, this is not the server for you. If it sounds like the good part, come take something off someone.
Season calendar
Loneshoal runs 14-day seasons. Every wipe resets the world, every base and every
inventory — nothing carries over. Wipes land on Thursdays at 18:00 UTC and are
posted in the Discord at least a week ahead. In game, /wipe shows the next
one.
Wipe dates do not move for population. We will not wipe early because it is quiet, or late because someone is not finished. The one exception: if a Hytale patch lands within a couple of days of a wipe, the wipe slides onto the patch weekend and the new date is posted in the Discord.
The first 24 hours after a wipe, bases cannot be breached — everything else is open from the first minute.
The contract
These do not change mid-season. If one has to change, it changes at a wipe and is posted in the Discord first.
- Full lootFull loot on death. What is on your body is on the ground.
- Bases are raidableWilderness is unclaimed; a tool cupboard claims 48 blocks across and 64 up, and it needs upkeep.
- Trio maxThree people to a group. No plugin enforces this yet, so it is an honour rule until group tools exist — obvious zergs get told once, then removed.
- 14-day seasonsWipe Thursdays 18:00 UTC. The world, every base and every inventory reset. Nothing carries over.
- First 24 hours: no breachesAfter a wipe, walls, doors and cupboards cannot be breached for 24 hours. PvP, looting and radtowns are open from the first minute. Build fast.
- No kits, no shops, no /homeNothing is sold and nothing is handed out.
- Staff play by the same rulesNo creative mode, no spawned gear, no admin-only information. Every ban and its reason is posted publicly in the Discord #ban-log.
The ladder
Gear and defenses climb the same three tiers, from what you scavenge on day one to what you have to build to hold ground.
- Tier 1 — wood, stone, bone, copperCrude, bone and copper spears turn up in scraps and roadside trash piles, and in radtown chests. Wooden spike traps, the Fire flask (burns a reinforced wood wall for about a minute, put out by knocking the flame out — does nothing to stone), the Lock, a tool cupboard, and wood and stone walls.
- Tier 2 — iron, leatherIron spears, iron spikes and the snapjaw bear trap. The Nomad Grapple grappling hook. Raid charges, the Runed chest — the first chest that takes a lock — and metal walls.
- Tier 3Turrets that auto-fire at anyone not on the cupboard, iron-tier walls, and crafted-only top gear. Never found in a box.
Traps inside a claim never hurt the owner or anyone on the cupboard; outside a claim they hurt everyone, including whoever placed them.
What runs on the server
Published so nothing changes silently. If it is not on this list, it is not on the server.
Live today
- Loneshoal core (Live World Events, by Nomad Labs) — tool-cupboard claims and upkeep, reinforced walls and raid charges, the three radtowns (Outlander fort, Trork war-camp, Necropolis), incursion zones, supply drops, garrisons, turrets and sentinels.
- JoinScreen — the screen you see on join.
- Votifier, OneQuery, Nitrado Query + WebServer — server-list voting and status queries. No gameplay effect.
- Asset packs: Archipelago, Garrison, Incursion, Necropolis, Radtown, Raid Tool, Resource Scarcity, Rubble to Rock, Sentinel, Swim Tonic, Tool Cupboard, Turret, World Map.
Staged for the next deploy (running on the test server now, on the main server after a live check)
- Radtown hazards: grave-rot miasma in the Necropolis, frostbite at the Outlander fort, embers at the Trork war-camp. Each has a counter — a tonic, a fire to stand by, a salve.
- Loot tiers: radtown chests hold tier 1-2 gear only. Tier 3 is crafted at an upgraded bench or earned, never found in a box.
- Two roads: looting a site whose garrison is still standing pays scraps — clear it for the full table. A base that holds 24 hours without being breached earns a Holdfast crate at its cupboard.
- Roving bands: hound packs and salvager parties that walk the map and sniff out cupboards.
- Quiet world: far fewer broadcasts when the server is empty.
- Scheduled wipes with
/wipe, 14-day cadence, reminders from 24 hours out. - Coast roads: a worn road loops every island's shore, with a spoke to its radtown and landings facing the neighbouring islands. Roadside trash piles hold scraps and refresh.
- Fire flask and the Lock — tier 1 gear for burning wood defenses and locking a door to your cupboard's crew.
- Nomad Compass, Nomad Rafts and Nomad Grapple — three free standalone add-ons.

Frequently asked questions
- What is Loneshoal?Loneshoal is a live Hytale survival server run by Nomad Labs. It is Rust-style, full-loot survival on a generated archipelago: you spawn with empty hands, and everything you have is either built since the last wipe or taken from someone else.
- How do I join?Add a server in Hytale using host loneshoal.nomad-labs.co and port 5520, or the combined address loneshoal.nomad-labs.co:5520 if your client takes one field.
- Is it free to play?Yes. Anyone who owns Hytale can join; there is no whitelist application and no payment.
- What makes it different from other servers?Full-loot PvP, a tool-cupboard land claim system with real upkeep, a durability ladder for base walls, and raidable radtowns each defended by their own garrison.
- How big can groups be?Trio max: three people to a group. No plugin enforces this yet, so it is an honour rule until group tools exist; obvious zergs get told once, then removed.
- When is the next wipe?Loneshoal runs 14-day seasons, with wipes landing Thursdays at 18:00 UTC. Check /wipe in game or the Discord for the exact date.
- Is it still in early access?Yes, early playtest. Loneshoal runs on a fixed 14-day season cadence while Hytale itself is still young, and the population is currently small, which is part of the appeal for players who want to be there early.
- Is there a grace period after a wipe?Yes. For the first 24 hours after a wipe, walls, doors and cupboards cannot be breached by charges or strangers' tools. PvP, looting and radtowns are open from the first minute, so build fast.
